Book Talk

Book talk with Larraine Koike, “Pono, the Dog that Dreams,” following the Sunday service.

Synopsis: Hawaii's Pono the poi dog has dreams that empower him. As he grows from a helpless underdog to a superdog with a mission, he discovers his unique gifts in a world of beauty and danger. With special friends and a nose for adventure, he learns many lessons as he tries to do good in the world. All he wants is to love and to be loved, but life isn't quite so simple. He's flawed and naughty, and he makes mistakes. But he is brave, and as he comes of age, he discovers the true meaning of his name: Pono.

Dana Day Collection Begins

In February, Buddhist Women’s Associations worldwide solicit donations for locally selected organizations.

Our Honolulu United BWA supports nonprofit organizations that benefit youth, women, or elderly. The Dana Award is $1,000 per year for three years, with the exception of Project Dana, which is awarded $2,000 as our Perpetual Awardee.
